The Elkford Public Library contains over 20,000 titles for children and adults in addition to many magazines and reference books. An unlimited number of books can be signed out for a three week period. The East Kootenays have an inter-library loan agreement so that your Elkford card will entitle you to sign out books in neighboring libraries. This also enables you to have books brought in from Cranbrook or Vancouver. The Library offers a children’s story hour and summer reading program and promotes the Project Literacy Program. The library is situated in the Aquatic complex and is open Tues & Wed 10 - 5 pm Thur & Fri 12 - 7 pm and Saturday 12 - 5 pm.
