Elkford is every photographer's dream come true! With panoramic views every direction you turn, crystal clear alpine lakes, majestic water falls, abundant wildlife, and exotic vegetation. The Lodgepole pine is the predominant tree species but Englemann spruce, fir, larch, and poplar can be seen throughout the area. The understory consists of juniper, twinberry, saskatoon, buffalo/soap berry, violets, a variety of orchids, fireweed, Indian paintbrush, elephant’s head and cinquefoil to name but a few. Some of the wildlife that can be found in the area are elk, bighorn mountain sheep, mountain goats, black and grizzly bears, wolf, moose, deer, cougar and many more.
